Cookware Soapstone cooking vessels have been used for thousands of years. Quarried from the earth and carved into pots, they may have been one of the first manufacturing industries of the native American people. The pots we provide for you have been produced in Brazil, which has a long history of using the pots for cooking their national dish of feijoada and rice. The cookware heats very evenly and retains its heat for a long time. It needs to be cured with oil and heat and will become virtually non-stick with repeated uses. The pots and griddles can be used both on the stovetop and the oven. The pizza stones are thinner and recommended to be used only in the oven where the source of heat is more even. Each pot comes with curing and care instructions. They will arrive in their natural state, which is a soft gray mottled with the variations of additional minerals. Once oiled and cured they become a very handsome rich black shade, sometimes shaded with greens or browns that deepen with use. |
